Club outing to Lake of Menteith.

On Sunday 14 May the club held its first outing of the season. Members met In Balloch and travelled to the Lake of Menteith for the first outing of the season. Conditions were good and soon the fish count was on the increase. It was a successful outing with several species of fish being caught, ranging from Rainbow Trout, Perch and Pike. One of approximately 15lbs, caught on the fly. The day was enjoyed by all and we look expectantly to the next one. If you would like to join us on the next club outing, you can follow us on facebook ”VOLDAC” send us an email or continue to log into our website. VOLDAC Trout Fishing - Lake of Menteith

Members,

I have recently volunteered to take over the Club Fishing’s position which was vacated last year by George MacKenzie who used to organise trout fishing competitions and regular outings to trout lochs for the trout fishers in the club.

I have in mind to organise 2 or 3 outings to a fishery this year to gauge whether there is any interest amongst the membership. My thoughts are that this might be a welcome change from fishing the Lomond system and would allow members to get together for a day out from time to time - we are a fishing club after all.

The Lake of Menteith is fairly local and generally a good day out. Therefore, I have pencilled in the following dates for a couple of days out on the lake.

Sunday 30th April

Sunday 27th August

If there is appetite amongst the members then a third date can be added at the back end and an alternative venue discussed. It doesn’t really matter whether this is treated as a day out or a light hearted competition over 2 or 3 trips, the point is to go fishing, enjoy yourself and hopefully get a bend in the rod. All members and their friends are welcome to come along.

Note that boats will have to be booked in advance, hence I will need to confirm numbers beforehand. I will contact the fishery to confirm how far in advance boats need to booked and to confirm costs.

Details to follow nearer the time - I will also put put a couple of sheets up around the club.

Many thanks

Sean McAulay
